The maximum allowed service speed
Service speed of a navigable vessel shall not be greater than:
- 10 knots in the Bay of Boka;
- 6 knots:
- in the Strait of Kumbor, between the coordinates:
a) 42˚26,1’N 018˚36,6’E
b) 42˚25,47’N 018˚36,26’E
c) 42˚25,85’N 018˚34,63E
d) 42˚26,47’N 018˚35,01’E,
- in the Verige Strait, between the coordinates:
a) 42˚28,65’N 018˚41,41’E
b) 42˚28,77’N 018˚41,11’E
c) 42˚27,65’N 018˚40,15E
d) 42˚27,46’N 018˚41,02’E, i
- on the Bojana river;
Navigable vessels in the Bay of Boka of 24 m can proceed at the speed of 4 knots above the allowed speed.
4 knots on locations on the Lake of Skadar: Rijeka Crnojevića channel, river Karatuna channel, both branches of Morača a river that belong to the Lake of Skadar National Park, Mihailovići area, Poseljanski bay, Biški rep, estuary of Rijeka Crnojevića, estuary of Bazagurska matica, area around the Liponjak island in the areas where the fishing is forbidden.
On the Lake of Skadar the navigation is forbidden for water jet propulsion vessels as well as the use of vessels with engine power of more than 7,35 kW without permission from the government body responsible for the protection of nature.
Getting near the caast
During navigation in the internal sea waters and territorial waters of Montenegro the vessels shall not approach the coast as follows:
- Ships, yachts and hydroplanes at the distance less than 300 m;
- Motor boats and fishing vessels at the distance less than 150 m;
- Row boats, sailboards and surfboards, canoes, kayaks, gondolas, beach canoes and pedal boats can proceed at the distance less than 50 m from the coast but not greater than 150 m;
- In the water area adjacent the bathing area vessels can proceed only at the distance greater than 50 m from the fence of regulated or constructed bathing area;
- It is forbidden to plane at the distance less than 200 m from the coast.
